After starting our business and this blog we’ve heard from a number of people who are interested in starting their own business. It brings joy to our eyes to see more people taking the plunge :) If you’re one of those people and you are in the ideation phase and looking for some capital to get jump started, check out the Y Combinator Winter Funding cycle. Y Combinator is new kind of venture firm that focuses mainly on the idea and the people (and not the business plan). They take a more hands-off approach to incubation than others. Basically, you get a few thousand bucks, incorporated, and then they let you do what you do.
I think we may be a little too far along to go for it, but I’m never one to rule out taking money ;) If you have an idea, you should definitely give it a shot. What’s the harm? All you need to do is submit an application form by October 18, 2006.
Good luck!
