In 2002, as a physician with fourteen-year career in urgent care medicine, I had the opportunity to work with a team in developing the Practice Velocity suite of urgent care software solutions.

As with Anita, we had a vision to make things better. Unlike Anita’s distaste for the beauty industry she worked in, the Practice Velocity team was thrilled to serve the rapidly-growing urgent care industry that serves the public with a convenient alternative to the hospital emergency department for illnesses and injuries that can not wait for a scheduled physician appointment. We felt honored to make software solutions for this dedicated group of urgent care physicians. Our goal was not just to make software but to serve the public and urgent care physicians by helping urgent care centers become more efficient and effective in delivering quality urgent care services.

When you get started, you don’t really realize how much work, money and sacrifice starting a business will be, but there have been great rewards as we have been fortunate enough to see the company grow to service over 150 urgent care centers. The best part of the whole business is meeting colleagues at urgent care conferences who shake your hand or even hug you, while giving you a big “thank-you” for helping them achieve their own dreams in starting their own urgent care center.
